Captain Chad Hayes in Charleston is a South Carolina native, and has spent the majority of his life learning about the wildlife, biology, and ecology of his home state. He continued his education by receiving a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Presbyterian College and a Master's degree in Biology from The Citadel.
While in college, Chad successfully completed several internships with private game plantations, USDA, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
In his professional career, he has accomplished many things. He designed, created, and managed the charterboat program for Kiawah Island resort- employing several local captains, spent 18 years conducting Fishing Charters in Kiawah Island and Dolphin watching tours in Kiawah Island , monitored soil and water for contamination as an environmental consultant, co-founded the Johns Island Conservancy, founded the Lowcountry Dolphin Alliance, served as the Preservation Committee Chairman for the Johns Island Community Association, worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a Fisheries Biologist, hosted a television show, "SC Wildlife", taught Marine Biology at Goose Creek High School, and won a national competition on ESPN, "The Search for the Ultimate Outdoorsman".
He filmed with National geographic for the series "Secret Life of Predators" and was highlighted in the premiere issue of Guy Harvey's conservation magazine for his work with the Bottlenose dolphins of the Kiawah River.
He has been featured in such national and local publications as Coastal Living, Southern Living, National geographic, South Carolina Wildlife, Legends magazine, Post and Courier, The Dillon Herald, The Charleston City Paper, and The Guy Harvey conservation magazine.
